Mary-Elizabeth Abbate

Ms. Abbate earned a B.A. from Adelphi University. She received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law which she attended on scholarship, where she was one of only four women in her class of 125. Upon graduation, she accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County. During her eight years as an Assistant District Attorney, she served in the Criminal Court Bureau, the Narcotics Bureau, the Homicide Bureau and the newly formed Juvenile Offense Bureau. She was appointed Deputy Chief of the Juvenile Offense Bureau and successfully tried the homicide prosecution of the first juvenile ever tried in New York State as an adult.

Ms. Abbate has been in private practice for over 25 years concentrating in the areas of criminal law, family law, matrimonial law and real estate law. She has been involved in many high-profile criminal matters. She has been the Vice President and is incoming President of the Suffolk County Criminal Bar Association.

Ms. Abbate carries an AV rating from Martindale Hubble which is its highest rating based upon peer evaluation and recommendation.
